President Obama speeches in front of Sarens Giant Crane

The SGC-120, a giant crane built by Belgium-based Sarens Group, is currently executing its first job in Phoenix, Arizona.  During 8 weeks it executes heavy lifting jobs for the construction of an enormous production hall for the steel industry. The SGC-120 positions beams of 160 meter weighing 325 tons each at a radius of 156 meter. On January 25th President Obama visited this plant, one of the biggest manufacturing sites in the US.

Against the background of the SGC-120 Obama gave a speech which fitted into his five-state tour. He explained his economic plans with a focus on the creation of jobs. As this manufacturing site will create 1000 extra jobs, it was the ideal location.

President Obama said at the beginning of his speech: "I'm told that right there is the world's largest land-based crane. I decided I had to check this out for myself because honestly, first of all who wants to miss out on a chance to see the crane? That thing is huge."

For this event the SGC-120 went through a thorough security check. Among other things the containers were examined.

Introduction scale model of the SGC 120 crane

Introduction scale model of the SGC 120 crane on Toyfair Nurnberg

Last week at the Nurnberg Toyfair WSI/ Sarens introduce the scalemodel of the SGC-120 crane. On 1 February 2012, we proudly unveiled the Sarens SGC-120 scale model under the watchful eyes of the press and the Sarens project engineer. The result was truly sensational!

The 2.6 metre high model now had a prominent place on the WSI stand. After revealing the SGC-120 to the public, we are finally able to compare it to the real crane. An oft-heard comment is the incredible likeness of the scale model to the real thing. This, of course, is a wonderful compliment for WSI Models B.V.
